Green Expert Technology Inc. (GreenXT) is seeking Junior to Intermediate level Network Engineering Technician candidates to support the development, maintenance, and delivery of the Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex System (GEDMS) for DDG-51 Arleigh Burke Class Destroyers.
 
The selected candidate will be interfacing with U.S. Navy civilian software and systems engineers, support contractors, U.S. Navy ship’s force, OEMs and engineering management.  Primary responsibility will be to contribute to all aspects of the ship’s communications and network system life cycle including but not limited to installation, testing and evaluation, troubleshooting, repair, deployment, and maintenance.

Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Provide on-site and field support to keep the U.S. Navy interior communications systems, networks and/or network user systems operational
  • Support testing and evaluation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of the above-mentioned systems
  • Strong communication skills to ensure teammates and supervisors are in sync with tasking and progress
  • Experience writing, reviewing, and maintaining technical documentation such as but not limited to new or existing user manuals, product specifications, and training materials
  • Initiative and enthusiasm to learn to maintain the systems and function independently
  • Candidate must be comfortable working with electrical equipment, including Low Voltage and Medium Voltage switchboards, firewalls, routers and other networking equipment
 
Preferred, but not required:
  • Experience with Arleigh Burke DDG 51 Class Destroyers
  • Familiarity with (AN/USQ-82(v))
  • Prior Naval support or maritime service
  • Basic knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP
  • Experience with the use of naval ship blueprint and technical manual drawings to produce artwork suitable for inclusion in documentation
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university
 
 Principal Duties/Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain U.S. Navy interior communications systems and networks
  • Provide on-site and field support to the DDG 51 Class Destroyers
  • Work under an experienced waterfront Field Engineer on installs with the goal of taking an independent role in the future
  • Assemble, rework, and test high reliability assemblies utilizing the proper tools, equipment, and processes
  • Interface with project and manufacturing engineers in resolution of problems on hardware
  • Perform work including manual hand operations and rework/repair of hardware on an as-needed basis
  • Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format
 
Requirements
  • High school/vocational school degree or GED certificate and seven (7) years’ experience with network and communication systems, DoD/USN preferred
  • US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain this clearance upon acceptance) is required for this position
  • Candidate must be available to travel at times up to 25%
 
Working Conditions
The work is typically performed at client site locations in an active US Navy shipyardAdditional work may be performed onboard US Navy Ships (pier side and at sea), which requires proper safety precautions and ability to go up and down shipboard stairways (ladders); work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment.
