Job Description
Green Expert Technology Inc. (GreenXT) is seeking a Naval Mechanical Engineer.
The candidate will provide programmatic, administrative, engineering, technical, training, logistical, maintenance, installations/alterations, Life Cycle Management, technical data management catalog updating, and general systems, and equipment support for HM&E systems for the NSWCPD, specifically for the Ship’s Steering Systems Division.

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide in-service engineering support for steering control systems and associated hydraulic actuation mechanisms on Navy surface ships.
- Travel to provide in person support for Casualty Reports (CASREPs), both portside and at sea. Coordinate Navy technical codes (e.g., NSWCPD) for troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Conduct troubleshooting and fault isolation for steering machinery during maintenance or casualty events.
- Author Technical Feedback Reports (TFBRs), Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and support Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) documentation.
- Participate in Failure Review Boards and Mission Readiness Panels (MRPs).
- Collaborate with OEMs and Navy technical codes (e.g., NSWCPD) to develop solutions for obsolescence, reliability, or system upgrades.
- Analyze operational and test data to identify trends, support troubleshooting, and inform recommendations for system improvements.
- Provide Ship system configuration, testing, training, support, troubleshooting, and assessments of HM&E systems
- Conduct pre- and post-installation ship checks to verify the accuracy of installation drawings.
- Support steering system overhauls, ship alterations (SHIPALTs), and new equipment installations.
- Lead or support shipboard testing, including system functional tests, hydraulic leakage tests, and control loop validations.
- Review preliminary designs, detail designs, and drawings; Identify discrepancies between installation drawings, and actual vessel configuration; identify interferences
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college or university
- Two (2) years of experience in: Navy Ship Auxiliary systems, including distributed machinery control systems and software; Auxiliary Fuel, and Lube Oil systems; Auxiliary Pumps, and Smart Valves; Auxiliary Machinery, and the testing of these systems
- Knowledge of NSWCPD System Engineering Process (SEP), Alterations (MACHALTs), engineering change proposals, and/or ship change documents (SCDs) processes
- Experience with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) development and obsolescence management
- Ability to lift, carry and transport light materials, boxes, or equipment.
- Ability to work on and climb ladders, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
- Ability to travel to support CASREPs up to 35% of the time.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience supporting rudder control systems, hydraulic power units (HPUs), hydraulic pumps, and feedback transducers.
- Familiarity with Integrated Ship Control System (SCS) or other helm control systems.
- Experience with electrical engineering concepts or electronic systems.
- Prior experience with in-service engineering support (ISEA) or NAVSEA/NSWCPD technical codes.
- Exposure to DoN shipboard testing and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with Navy Class Maintenance Plan (CMP) processes
- Experience with hydraulic steering components such as pumps, directional control valves, ram actuators, and hydraulic fluid requirements.
- Mission Readiness Panels (MRPs) Navy logistics databases (Remedy, Navy 311) and ILS feedback tools: TMDER, OSS TFBRs, PMS TFBRs, COSAL Feedback
